In the evening the lounge served ceviche โ a jolt of the sea and citrus enlightenment on a single plate.
The booze was carried round by two Mexican waiters with faces that said “we’re serving a sentence here, not following a calling”. They looked as if they were pouring the cocktails not for the guests but for themselves, on credit.
At breakfast, a Chinese gentleman was fast asleep in the lounge. Laid out beautifully, as though it were his personal soft opening. Full marks for initiative โ that’s what I call maximum redemption. Not since a Wetherspoons at nine in the morning have I seen such commitment. I’d quite like to try it one day: breakfast, in my sleep.
Breakfasts in the lounge and the lobby restaurant are on video.
In the video you can watch the omelette trying very hard to be content, and the coffee perking you up more than your ambitions do at 10am.
P.S. I’m considering asking for points in compensation for the sleeping gentleman. Or at the very least a blanket for him.
