I stayed here two years ago. Last time they upgraded me to a room with a balcony, clouds, rain and a view of Walmart. Practically the Lake District.
This time I decided to test a booking made through Rove: would the status magic still work with a middleman in the mix?
Checking in through the app or the link in the email didn’t work. I thought: “Here we go.” But no β it all went remarkably smoothly.
At reception they greeted me like a Globalist. Possibly even sincerely. Upgraded, but no balcony. “Pardon, we’re full,” they said, with the sort of accent that makes “pardon” sound faintly rude.
Balcony rooms are only on the 19th floor. A corner one with a 220-degree view. Last time it was mine; now it belongs to somebody else.
