It seems Uber has worked out that I’m no longer living it large. Perhaps it was the Big Macs I ordered at 52% off through Uber Eats. Or the algorithm simply caught the whiff of thrift through the screen.
Either way, the company showed some compassion: five coupons at $16 each for Uber Shuttle rides. A subtle hint β “time you took the minibus, love, only on subscription”.
The service runs in ten US cities, Mexico City, Cairo, Delhi and somewhere in Brazil. Uber doesn’t say which city β presumably so as not to spoil the surprise.
Took my first ride. Genuinely a decent option. Just like a Russian marshrutka minibus, except the driver doesn’t bellow “pass your fares forward” and the air conditioning works. Think of it as a posh night bus, only in daylight and without the kebab smell.
