For the second time in my life I’ve been hit by fraud on a physical card.
The first was 17 years ago on Sulawesi — bog-standard skimming at a shopping-centre cash machine.
For cash machines, blackjack and ****, I keep special cards. My first suspect was the lounge at MEX. Then, by a process of beer-based elimination, I remembered.
Cancún. Went out for beer at night. Everything sold through a hatch in the window, like a chippy after closing time.
The wisp of a lad dashes back and forth to the card terminal, shuffling different cards, and every time complains the payment won’t go through.
In my merry state, the untouchable card slipped into that deck as well.
Result: minus $460 from my bank account.
Take my credit card’s word for it: beer-fuelled alcoholism is a tragedy ✊🏾
