# The Village of Nanchong 🎤

Last year the New Year spawning took place in the quiet little village of [Nantong](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nantong).

This year the current carried me to the quiet little village of [Nanchong](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanchong).

Same Nan (it means "south"), different endings.

Population: 1,936,534.

The 5,607,565 on Wikipedia is the whole prefecture, tributaries, backwaters and all.

Net result: a solid 128th place among China's settlements by headcount of staff.

The town wins you over straight away, and without pushiness:

- they sing as if they rehearsed before their shift;
- they work as if nobody's watching;
- they unwind without fuss, on schedule;
- they dance — free of charge for locals;
