The grass is always greener, and the water always softer, wherever you happen not to be.

I’ve ordered a new TDS meter.

TDS isn’t “the environment”, it’s civilisation’s bare minimum of hygiene:

0–150 ppm — drink it without philosophising 150–300 ppm — fine, but with “character” 300–500 ppm — survival mode: boil it, filter it 500+ ppm — no longer water, more a chronicle of industrialisation

For reference, the average kettle in the Home Counties lives at the top of that third band, and nobody bats an eyelid.

A device that has worked for 12 years and tasted the water of 70+ countries has earned the right to rust with dignity.

That isn’t corrosion, it’s the patina of travel 🫶🏽
