# Air China, the National Carrier 😑

With a European account, it shows prices through the roof.

So I registered [on the Chinese version](https://www.airchina.com.cn/en-US/user/).

Of interest: there are flights and connections you won't find on Trip or Google Flights.

It can pull in flights from ["the Southerners"](https://www.csair.com/hk/en/).

Prices are five grains of rice cheaper than Trip. Five dollars in every hundred.

When I saw HKG – LHR for $115, I thought Shangri-La might actually exist.

On the final step they add the taxes, and the legend turns back into cold hard fact.

There are coupons for upgrades to business class for a few yuan. Domestic flights only.

I bought a test one to see the whole process from start to finish.

Payment went through without a hitch.

The ticket was issued and a confirmation arrived by email, but it didn't show up in the account.

I put the probability of actually taking off at 93.07% — roughly the odds of a British barbecue going ahead as planned 👉
