Instead of the lounge, they offer two options.
Free soups, in two varieties, or a buffet for $12 for loyalty members.
For mere mortals the price is $60. That’s roughly the going rate for a seafood buffet elsewhere in Macau.
And it may well be a fine example that could be rolled out across the rest of the chain.
Comparing the lounge of previous years with what you get for $12 is like comparing Zara with haute couture.
The only limit is on lobster. Half a lobster per person. The lobster is exchanged for a token handed out at the door β the most civilised rationing since 1954.
In an ordinary seafood restaurant, a whole lobster is priced by weight.
A rough guide for gourmets in Macau:
- a small live lobster: 400 MOP = $50
- a good big one: 800 MOP = $100
- a premium imported one: higher still
As for mashed potato, you can always make that at home.
