# Mates' Rates, Doubled 🐰

Qatar has a WhatsApp chat for its "Platinum" members.

It's staffed by agents with the swagger of nightclub bouncers.

They can see your profile's full history.

In the ordinary chat, all they can see is that you're Platinum. Not your underwear.

And that, of course, changes the tone of the conversation.

Today, in keeping with an old status tradition, I was [changing dates](https://loyalty.sarl/en/posts/2026-04-09-qr-q-u-r/).

And once again I was reminded that [the well-connected pay double](https://www.anekdot.ru/id/-2052419022/).

The agent in the VIP chat loaded me up with information and suggested I stop showing off and fly whatever I'd been given.

He even threatened to put everything back as it was and rebook me in economy.

But we, though simple folk, are bloody experienced. We don't fly First on weekdays.

I logged in through the browser and repeated the same request in the ordinary, unprivileged chat.

The whole thing took five minutes.
