# Nights in the Cowshed

Hyatt launched the UrCove brand in 2019 as a joint venture with China's BTG Homeinns group.

The hotels are in China only.

At one point they were the cheapest in the whole chain.

In 2024 there was a scandal when it emerged that one of the brand's hotels had been inflating accounts on an industrial scale.

The hotel was blacklisted and dragged the entire UrCove brand down with it.

These days the nights rarely credit without a kick-up-the-backside email to customer support.

Needless to say, with my status luck, in 2024 I ended up at precisely that legendary UrCove.

Not a central hotel at all. In an outlying city that happens to be home to Alibaba's headquarters.

But in pursuit of a million SAS miles, Xiamen Airlines delivered me straight into the lair of status debauchery.

Remind me to tell you about the million SAS miles some day when I've got a minute. [It was an epic promotion!](https://www.flysas.com/en/about-us/eurobonus-millionaire)

For now, revenons à nos ~~moutons~~ vaches.

This year there were two nights at UrCove, in April and May.

Naturally, they weren't credited.

I wrote the first email a month ago.

Gemini sorted it out in seven emails.

Checkmate, moo-cow 🐲
